Apple is Boss!

Apple and I spent a few days up at New Plymouth with Mum and Dad.

Here is a classic moment I managed to catch on video.

Smooshes from Mummy

Apple loves his smooshes.

An update on Apple getting a friend: The landlord said no. Apple (and his Mummy) are not very happy about it.

I am possibly renting my brother's house next year so am going to try and wait until then!

Sepia Lepus

I purchased this print from Sepia Lepus earlier in the year. I also purchase 3 others! Hehe. I love her work - and of course the bunny theme. One of the four prints I purchased wasn't bunnies - it was hedgehogs!

A Treat for Apple

Apple's Dad came for a visit last week. I told him to bring something for Apple.

This is what arrived - a yummy plate of greens and fruit. Apple was very pleased and went straight for the kiwifruit! Don't worry people - I took away most of the fruit to give him later in small doses.

Shhh Mummy! I'm hiding from predators!

A picture from today of Apple enjoying his garden time.

In other Apple news - I have asked my landlord if I can have another indoor bunny. I am expecting a 'no' - I was lucky he even agreed to Apple. But that doesn't mean I will listen to him. I will just have to make sure Apple's friend goes on holiday during inspection time!

I have been reading up on bunny bonding and when the time is right, I will take Apple along to the SPCA to meet the bunnies. From what I have read, if the bunnies don't hate each other at the first meeting, then there is a good chance they will bond. I will keep you posted.

Knit knit

I knitted this on my days off. He looks like he is being held ransom in his little cubby hole. I made him from this pattern book.

I use to knit Jean Greenhowe toys (and still have them) so was quite keen to get back into the swing of knitting again. I see Jean has free patterns on her website - I will have to try out the 'ghosties' and 'tea party treats'. Maybe I will post some pics of my knitted toys from my earlier crafting days...

New Bike

So I am been 'sitting' on the idea of getting a bike for a few weeks now. The idea didn't go away so I bought one. Just a cheapo one from KMart - 25% off. I went for a 'wee' ride today. Just enough to start getting use to it and to make my bum sore! I shall gradually increase my time on it in an effort to avoid 'ouch bum' syndrome.

For the non-observant people out there - note that my baby is in his garden in the background of the photo. Awww. If I saw this photo I would be 'aww - bunny' and ask 'what bike?'

Now Vegan

I got very excited when I saw this book on the shelf at Whitcoulls! I had almost given up on Whitcoulls when it comes to craft and cooking but they have redeemed themselves! So I decided I better buy it. It is a lovely book and I see on Amazon that it isn't actually available yet. Double points for Whitcoulls.

More of Apple

Apple is enjoying the sun (and his greens).

Cranberry Scones

More baking from the cookbook Vegan Baking. I think I over-mixed them but they still tasted good!

Tony Cribb Artwork

I was very excited to find Tony Cribb cards for sale in a funky shop (Verge Gallery) in New Plymouth. I couldn't resist this 'ginga' one. Hehe. I was also pleased to see he has canvas prints for sale. I shall have to treat myself sometime soon.

Etsy for Animals

I just wanted to bring your attention to this cool group of people on Etsy. 100% of shop proceeds go to animal charities. I can't wait to join this group once I open my Etsy shop.

Choc Chip Cookies

Yum Yum. I baked these over the weekend. They are from the cookbook Vegan Baking. They are UBER yummy and definately going to be made again - just not when I am the only one eating them! This exciting new adventure into vegan cooking has meant I have been trying lots of baked goods - many of which are not good for the waistline...

Me Wants!

Elise from Argyle Whale is selling these Nom Nom Nom bunny altered Gocco prints!

Her bunnies have nibbled the edges! There is even a pic of the bunnies that did the chomping. So cute. I think these rock and I am looking forward to putting in an order soon (along with a whole bunch of other Etsy things I would like).

Eggplant and Chickpea Stew

I tested out my new book tonight and made this. Eggplants were finally on special. Woohoo!

Yum yum. The parsley and coriander are courtesy of Apple's garden. We both benefit!

Happy Halloween!

As you can probably tell - Apple wasn't overly thrilled about this situation. He humoured me for about a minute and then ran off. Doesn't he look cute when he is grumpy?

My first video

Yes - Apple can talk. Watch the video for proof.

Mousey Mousey

I made this little mousey using a free pattern from Sewing Stars. I resisted the urge to turn him into a bunny by giving him big ears. Don't worry though - bunny softies coming soon...

Mmmm....carrot tops

Yum yum. Apple loves carrot tops...and brocolli leaves...
and coriander....the list goes on.

I normally go to the Sunday market and stock up on greens for Apple. I buy a few things (to make myself feel better) and then I ask for the scraps. The ladies know me now and always say 'scraps for bunny?' This week I scored big time with the carrot tops! 2 different people were buying them and said please chop off the tops. I was very quick to say 'ooh - I'll have those please'.

Sunday is Apple's favourite day. Don't you love how the photo is focussed on his cute little nose...

Another Book

I also ordered this book. It doesn't have enough pictures for me, but there are lots of yummy recipes in there. It also has a good section at the front about nutrition. I think by eating vegan I am going to be eating better than I ever have - simply because I am more paranoid about missing out on nutrients.

I plan on doing a bit of cooking tonight so stay tuned for some pics. Hopefully the photos will look all arty and cool like on other peoples blogs!

Apple's Garden

Here is Apple in his custom-grown rabbit garden! I purchased some 'Rabbit Green' seeds from Paws 4 Greens.

His garden has: Rabbit grass, White Clover, Red Clover, Plantain, Chicory, Yarrow and Lucerne as well as salad plants (which they don't seem to be selling now). I totally recommend this company and they also sell greens for cats, dogs and other small furry animals. They are based in Canterbury.

I got the seashell paddling pool on sale and made holes in it using my soldering iron! Hehe. Perfect for my baby and being in a rental property.

Yum Yum

Look what arrived for me today...

It is an amazing book filled with yummy pictures. I will post some pics of my creations (if I don't eat them all before I take the picture!) I have only recently gone vegan and have just discovered vegan chocolate.....oh boy.

I purchased the book from The Book Depository and the best part is 'FREE DELIVERY WORLDWIDE'.
